Splital turns one! 🥳

One year ago, on May 15th 2024, we launched Splital into the Play Store and App Store. Just two developers with a working prototype and a big hope: that we could make something useful for people who need to split bills more easily.

At the time, Splital was very basic, not very polished, and could do one thing: create a groups and add expenses.

That’s it. The UI was minimal, the user experience rough, and there were more than a few bugs to squash. But that version, as simple as it was, marked the beginning of something special.

What we didn’t expect back then was how much Splital would grow, and that growth happened because of you.

In the early days we had few users and almost no feedback. With time, you started sharing bugs, suggestions, ideas, sometimes just kind words that kept us going.

With your help, we’ve spent the past 12 months improving Splital in every way, from the technical foundation to the features you’ve asked for the most.

The new features

In just one year, we’ve added:

• Automatic expense categorization
• Group spending stats and charts
• PDF and CSV export of expenses
• Image attachments
• Expense search
• A more intuitive user interface

…and a long list of small improvements that together make Splital more reliable, smoother, and easier to use.

Let’s talk numbers

Your engagement has been incredible. In just 12 months:

• Daily active users (DAU) grew from fewer than 300 in June 2024 to peaks of over 1,600 DAUs this spring. That’s more than 5× growth in one year.
• Users added around 500,000 expenses in the past year. To put that in perspective: that’s like logging one expense every minute, non-stop, for an entire year.
• In 2025 alone, users added 50,000+ expenses per month. This shows that people aren’t just downloading the app, they’re actively using it to stay organized, month after month.
• Splital has been used in over 100 countries, with the most active communities in Argentina, Italy, and Mexico.
• We’ve reached 70,000+ downloads, collected 850+ reviews, and are maintaining a 4.8-star average rating across app stores. These are not just numbers, they show real appreciation from real users, and we couldn’t be more grateful.

These numbers are humbling, but more than anything, they remind us how many people Splital is helping every day.

What's next?

We’re proud of what we’ve built so far, but this is just the beginning. We have a long list of features in the works (many suggested by you), and we’re committed to shaping Splital into the best possible app for managing both shared and personal expenses.

Splital is, and will remain, self-funded and proudly supported by our amazing community. We don’t show ads. We don’t have investors. No one is telling us what to build. We just listen to you.
